No matter how remote the village, or how high in the Himalayas — at Jaya, we believe everyone deserves access to mental health support.
Mental health is a human right. This principle guides everything we do: from running free mental health clinics, to training local health workers in life-saving skills, to challenging the stigma that isolates those living with mental illness.
“”We are facing a shortage of health staff — and currently, we have no dedicated mental health professionals in Mustang. It is our collective responsibility to ensure that everyone has access to them.” Sushila Giri, one of the Assistant Women and Child Development Inspectors we have recently met on our trip to Mustang, in northern Nepal.
This month, we’re proud to have signed new agreements with several community leaders in Nepal’s higher Himalayan regions. A new and exciting chapter in our work is beginning — and we look forward to sharing this journey with you.
